Maintain the previous day workshop procedure. Workshop was held at the Union Parishad of Arpara which is situated within the sub unit area.After that mid-level WMO Specialist welcomed the respective chairman, members, stakeholders and elite person for day long Union level workshop and he requested to chairman to inaugural the workshop.In the beginning of the session the Holly Quran and Geeta were cited and after that Participants introduced himself with their name, address and occupation.
Md. Aroz Ali Biswas, Chairman of 3 No Arpara UP presided over the function. Mr. Abdul Latif, Executive Engineer,O&M division, BWDB, Magura attended in inaugural session as a chief guest. Other respective experts and PMO officials were present in the dais of workshop. Mr. Chairman inaugurated the workshop. He requested the officials to implement the activities mainly to re- excavate the canals for irrigation purpose. During inaugural session, he advised to his members to contribute their experience in workshop.
Welcome speech was given by Md Abdul Latif, Executive Engineer, O & M division, BWDB-Magura. He said that we are going to establish few numbers of sluicegate and regulators, and also canal & beel will be excavated by maintaining the people’s participation. He expressed that the SW project will play an effective role to mitigate the water logged problems. So that need to forms of WMG as well as WMA in your areas. This workshop is the first steps to start the program in this areas. Your cooperation will be helpful for project implementation. Very recently, we will be completed tendering processes to complete civil work. The members of WMGs could be excavated of Khal/Canal/Beel by the maintaining of LCS processes.
Project description through Power Point Presentation (PPP)
MD. Hafizur Rahman, Deputy Chief Extension Officer (DCEO), SAIWRPMP-AF, BWDB Faridpur presented the whole WMO formation procedure one by one through PPP. He presented the previous day workshop slides with lively and elaborately. Participants enjoyed the session. At the end of the session, some participants arisen the question and he answered properly. Mr. Hafiz requested them to share their problems in forth coming meeting with respective CFs and SFs elaborately.
Open discussion session
After the presentation, an open discussion session was conducted to know problems on fisheries, agriculture, water logging and civil work etc. This session was mainly conducted through the respective experts.Enlisted the following problems on fisheries, agriculture and infrastructure which will be included in SIP report to address it.
Discussed issues on
Low production; lack of knowledge on the use of fertilizer; lack of good quality seeds; lack of improve varieties; No knowledge of the proper use of insecticides/pesticides; lack of agricultural knowledge; No knowledge to cultivate vegetables of women and No knowledge on nutrition etc.
Lack of fisheries training; lack of good quality fish fry/fingerlings; high feed price and no ideas of stocking density of fish fry/fingerlings etc.
c. Civil work
Water logging problems in Boknaler beel and Calar beel and Siltation problems of Kanudar beel; Siltation of Noropotidoshimanar khal and Chitolbari khal; Need to get borrow-pit lease of BWDB; Re-construction of embankment and lack of water management and borrow-pit captured by another peoples (muscle man) etc. The branch Khals are Kanudar Khal, Noropotr I Khal, Citolbari Khal should be re-excavated. Boknalerbeel and kalarbeel are water logged area due to heavy rainfall, it should be solved through your project activities.
Closing of Workshop
Md. Aroz Ali Biswas, Chairman of 3 No Arpara union has given a special thanks to all participants basically UP members, elite persons & BWDB & ISPMC officials who spent their valuable time in the workshop. He will extend his hands for all kind of cooperation to the project. He wished the success of the project. Then he formed a “Foundation Committee” which is consists of 13 members with 3 female members and declared the name of the committee members.
Lastly he closed the workshop with vote of thanks.
